Palamidi Castle: Proudly standing 216m above sea level, you can climb the 999 steps carved into the rock to see the incredible view overlooking the city. If you are not up for the challenge, there is an entrance at the top of the hill as well. Drenched in history, this location is where the famous hero of the Greek Revolution Theodore Kolokotronis had been imprisoned.
Bourtzi Castle: The Venetian small fortress located in the middle of the Nafplio harbor, serves as the city’s most famous landmark. If you are interested in touring this ancient wonder, you can embark a small rowboat nearby to drop you off at the castle.
Epidaurus Ancient Theatre: A 30 minute drive from Nafplio, this is regarded as the best preserved ancient theatre in Greece in terms of is perfect acoustics and fine structure.
Nemea: The wine region of the Peloponnese is only a 30 minute drive away. There are wineries dotting every mountainside boasting views that rival Napa. Semeli and Estate Constantin Gofas are both favorites.
Activities: At Sunset, take a stroll around the Arvanitia Promenade- the most popular walk in Nafplio! Close to Arvanitia Lighthouse you will find a beautiful old white and blue church where George’s cousin was married few years back.
